This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Salem, Oregon to Charleston. The shadow of the moon will track over parts of Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina. The Google map allows the user to zoom and scroll the map as desired.

This map of the United States shows the path of the Moon's umbral shadow — the path of totality — during the total.
