World Map At Night
World Map At Night. NASA scientists used data from the satellite to produce this "World Map of Cities at Night". There is prima facie no difference in the geography of the world in its day and night and the only thing that changes is its view.
It shows city lights, boats on the water, how people follow geography, population patterns and more. Use this interactive map to help you discover more about each country and territory all around the globe. The map shows day and night on Earth and the positions of the Sun (subsolar point) and the Moon (sublunar point) right now.

The NASA team is also now automating nighttime imagery processing to make the data available within hours of acquisition — potentially aiding short-term weather forecasting and disaster response efforts. It shows city lights, boats on the water, how people follow geography, population patterns and more.
